Famous rare soul DJ Richard Searling ( I have read) once defined Northern Soul as being "deep soul with a beat". If this is so, and the last addition to Soultreats.se (Le Bleau Monde) fits the bill as Deep Soul (which I think it does) then this is surely Northern Soul, at least in Mr. Searling´s point of view. Whatever the genre, the track is excellent and Brendetta Davis turns out one hell of a performance on this track, which was one of the first that future soul-superstar Barry White contributed to. Released problably between ´66-68 on Liberty records from Los Angeles, this track has had a new lease on life as it was featured a couple of years ago on the great "Deep Soul Treasures" CD-series on the reissue label Kent. Enjoy!
