One of my favourite artists, Darrow Fletcher started singing when he was just six years old. His father quickly realised his extrordinary talent and began to manage him. He recorded his first 45 at just fourteen, but when you listen to "The Pain Gets A Little Deeper" on Groovy records, you would never think that it is a high school boy singing, more like a broken hearted veteran of the blues scene.
Darrow Fletcher continued to release great music on labels like Groovy, Jacklyn and UNI but could never get signed to a major company that had the financial muscle to launch his career on a national level. He remained a very popular figure on the Chicago soul scene though and did countless of shows with major stars at the Regal theatre througout the sixties and early seventies.
