Soul Treats! - Soul music blog by Soulville UA

What it is.

Soultreats is Soulville U-A´s music blog. It´s updated several times a week with a new soulful record. It is our chance to spotlight the artists and record labels that made the music but rarely the charts.
It´s a celebration!

The legacy.
If you are, know or have any information about the artists, labels or musicians etc. that are mentioned in these pages, please share it with us by sending an email to:

Do not use the comment button for this since there is no way for me, for now, to know which additions have been commented on. Help us be as detailed as we possibly can in our description of this wonderful music.

Thanks in advance.

Bobby Patterson - What A Wonderful Night For Love - Jetstar

60s SoulPosted by Martin Wed, March 25, 2009 08:34:46

What A Wondeful way to start a day.
One of the very first records I bought when I first started collecting soul music. Bobby patterson hails from Dallas Texas and started playing instruments at an early age. He went to the Arlington College in California where one of his friends at the campus introduced him to his father who owned a local record label, Abnak record. Bobby cut a single for Abnak in 1962 and although it never became a big hit it convinced the owner the set up a label aimed specifiaclly at the R&B market with Bobby as its main star. A lot of great music followed, basically all of Bobby Pattersons stuff on Jetstar is worth picking up. He stayed with the label for some six years before taking a bigger interest in his writing and producing skills, working with artist like Chuck Jackson and Fontella Bass.
Bobby Patterson is still active today and was one of the headliners at the recents soul weekender in Prestatyn.
