Well it´s our hundred so I thought I´d feature a real classic.
One of those records that you keep returning to, and it amazes me how it still sounds so wonderful everytime I hear it. The Soul Brother Six were John Ellison, Lester Freeman, Vonell Benjamin and brothers Charles, Moses, Sam & Harry Armstrong. They cut a few records in the New York Area in the mid sixties on small labels and then got introduced to Jerry Wexler at Atlantic records and were signed for a deal.
None of the tracks got very big, the A-side to this single "Some Kind Of Wonderful" reached no. 91 on the Top 100 list. By the time they were signed to Atlantic one of the brothers had left. By the time they were done at Atlantic all of the remaining Armstrong´s left, saddened by their failure.
Somtimes the ones who deserve appreciation don´t get it, or have to wait for it. Here´s my chance to salute brothers Armstrong and Co., guys you had a hit but it was on the other side of the record!
"I´ll Be Loving You"
